Diversity Women in STEM Conference

Inspiring day at the Diversity Woman Magazine conference on recruiting, retaining, and advancing women in STEM at the Juniper Networks Aspiration Dome. It’s great to see some of the companies represented here (Google, Cisco, VMware, Airbnb, Riot Games, Arm, New Relic, Inc.) backing up the conversations they’re having about diversity with real strategic initiatives:

  • Looking outside of the same circle of talent and keeping job specs more general for a higher chance of diverse candidates applying and being placed

  • Making sure product and engineering teams reflect the consumers they’re building for

  • Putting HR policies and benefits in place that call for respectful and equal treatment of all employees

While there is still a lot of work to be done, it’s days like these that remind us we are not alone in tackling these issues from all levels and angles.
